Although we have a short burst of warmer weather this week, Friday last saw the first frost in Muskoka. The forests responded and our hillsides and shorelines are resplendent in the reds and golds of autumn. The next 10 days will be glorious and just in time for Bala’s annual Cranberry Festival all weekend long.
Friday of this week is senior’s day with discounted entry to the festivities. If you’ve never been before, the tasty treats are as superb as they are unique. Our favourite would be the cranberry crepes offered by the folks at Trinity All Saints church. There’s so much in store for all kinds of pallets and preferences, savouries, ices, drinks and sweets. A trip to the marsh to see cranberries being harvested and sampling some of the beverages they flavour is not to be missed. Non-alcoholic cranberry cider is wonderfully refreshing!
Take the drive. If you can, make it Friday. It’s easier to get around.
A few properties have come to market this week. But just as the leaves change, so does our marketplace. Some cottages have already been closed up for winter, water and heat are turned off. We were showing last weekend and a couple of spots were cooler inside than outside. We’re not slogging through snow, though, and that’s a plus! A bit further north they’re not so lucky!
