Balance. Balance is something we seem to need in our lives. There’s work/life balance many of us strive to achieve (getting away to the lake helps). As we age, balance becomes an ever-increasing issue. Losing core strength increases chances of falling. Responding to challenging situations takes balance. Get a little off-balance and people can be offended. Balance is a key component for how we live, move and think.
Balance is important in other ways. Balancing the books is a good place to start. In investing we talk of being diversified… another way of achieving balance by spreading things around. Then, of course, there’s having a balanced diet… Going too hard on the sugars or carbs can put a waistline out of balance; or even worse, blood pressure.
It goes on. This week is one of balance in the real estate area we serve. Roughly the same number of waterfront properties came to market as sold firm. The number of properties having price reductions was almost the same as those selling conditionally and as sold firm. I’m not sure what it means, but locally there was equilibrium. The teeter totter of real estate ups-and-downs was level. Balance.
