This has been the year for celebrating a little red berry. From the perspective of harvest, there have been better years. Celebrating? Never better! Great weather and a wonderful turn out for Cranberry Festival in Bala. The village was hopping, fall colours were peaking, days were sunny and the bogs were glorious. This year’s Cranfest will be remembered as one of the best ever.
As we approach the end of October, so the recreational waterfront marketplace begins to slow. Looking at dynamics, the last three weeks have been very busy. October has made up for the long cold spring. Good weather has helped. Sales are healthy.
Although many folk like the idea of year round property, a majority of cottage owners use their properties seasonally. Fall is ‘water off’ season. Likewise, as the weather cools, so do sales. Fewer properties come to market, listings expire or are cancelled.
If you have a portal and receive listing information, fewer changes occur and the number of notices drops off. We’re still here, properties are still available but activity declines. Some people think this is the best time to buy. Sellers would rather sell than have to come back to market next year. Flexibility might be greater than it was. This week we had more price reductions than new listings.
