Sometimes there are hiccups. Things don’t go as planned. Oh you get there eventually, but just not in the time or possibly the way you thought.

This year, Mother Nature herself, has had a hiccup. The skies are clear and blue, clouds are light, trees and flowers are in bloom. The temperature? Tuesday morning was just above the 0 mark. There have been early Junes when water temperature made swimming possible. I didn’t say pleasant, but possible. Not this year.

At the moment staying in the boat or on the dock is definitely the preferred alternative. Skiing or wake boarding? Use a wet suit. A sudden spill will unquestionably leave you gasping.

There’s another concern about being on the water at the moment. Not all detritus left from high water has been cleared. Not all of it can be seen either. Remember our Marketwatch about hemlocks? A surprising amount of stuff floats under the surface and is not easily seen. This past weekend two people we know damaged their boats colliding with submerged hazards.

If you’re on the water, be vigilant. A small change in a wave pattern may indicate a hidden obstacle.

If you’re on land, there’s lots to see. Buyers are busy viewing property. It’s a good time to list, if you’re thinking of selling. If you’re on the buying side, most of the summer season is still available to enjoy dock time.
